Estcourt
Estcourt is a town located in the uThukela District of KwaZulu Natal Province. Developed around a ford and originally named 'Bushmans River' but renamed in 1861 in honour of Englishman Thomas Estcourt an MP who sponsored the immigration of settlers into the area.

      
The N3 motorway runs along side the town linking it to the rest of  South Africa - Durban and the joys of the Indian Ocean  are about a 95minutes drive away!

Fort Durnford, in Estcourt, built in 1874 to protect the townspeople against possible Zulu attack, houses a museum where the main exhibit is the fort itself. It also features interesting defensive mechanisms. There is a reconstructed Amangwane Zulu Kraal in the grounds.

The Midlands Meander - A 20 minute drive from Old Beacon Hill will take you to the heart of the Meander (Nottingham Road ) where one can dine at many glorious restaurants, dabble in a spot of wine tasting, feast on quality chocolate, visit cheese farms, watch live music, browse art and craft venues, enjoy all levels of horse riding, fishing, canopy tours and much much more !   

Weenen Nature Reserve -  a mere 25 minute drive will take you to this popular game reserve with its guided walks, picnic sites, dams and not forgetting to mention the fine array of animals roaming this 5003 hectares - giraffe, rhino, zebra, kudu and a lot more !

Champagne Valley - An easy 29 minutes drive will take you to the heart of one of Drakensbergs most loved areas. From here you can access Monks Cowl (a hikers heaven), the Drakensberg Boys Choir,  breath-taking helicopter tours, waffle huts, golf courses, quad bikes, paintballing- the list is endless....

Wagendrift Dam - 10 minutes is all it takes to reach this beautifiul Dam with its extensive array of watersports including boating, fishing and sunset cruises.

Giants Castle - A very picturesque 45 minute drive takes you to Giants Castle. Hiking, San Art and relaxing with a thirst quencher after your exploring !
